PROPULSE EAR IRRIGATOR TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

PROPULSE EAR IRRIGATOR TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

The ProPulse® PP17P is the latest ear irrigator from the UK-based Mirage Health Group. Occasionally, the ProPulse® may not function as expected, but the good news is that most problems can be easily fixed by you, right where you are, without needing any tools. This guide provides the information you need to quickly diagnose and resolve any issues with your ProPulse®.

PROBLEMS THAT ARE COVERED IN THIS GUIDE

LEAKING FROM THE HANDLE

ARE YOU USING THE CORRECT TIPS?

Only ProPulse® QrX™ tips are compatible with the ProPulse® ear irrigator. Ensure the tips you're using are clearly marked with the ProPulse® logo. If they're not genuine ProPulse® tips, you can order the correct ones for express delivery here or through your preferred supplier.

IS THE QrX™ TIP INSERTED CORRECTLY?

Improper insertion can bend or break the prongs, resulting in an incomplete seal. To insert a new QrX™ tip, simply push it into the handle until you hear a click, indicating it's securely in place. ProPulse® QrX™ tips are designed for single use only and should be disposed of according to local authority guidelines after each use.

ARE YOU REMOVING YOUR QrX™ TIPS CORRECTLY?

Improper release can damage the collar spring. To check the spring, retract the handle's collar with your thumb and let go, allowing it to spring back into place. If it doesn't, the internal spring is broken, and the handle will need to be replaced. To correctly remove a QrX™ tip, pull back the collar with your thumb while using your other hand to remove the tip.

LEAKING FROM THE RESERVOIR

The ProPulse® reservoir is equipped with a small mushroom valve and an O-ring. The mushroom valve prevents water from flowing during tank filling, while the O-ring ensures a tight seal between the reservoir and the main unit.

ARE YOU USING THE CORRECT O-ring?

First, ensure you're using the correct O-ring. This is simple to verify, as the ProPulse® PP17P uses a red O-ring, while older ProPulse models use a black one.

HAVE YOU RECENTLY REPLACED THE VALVE AND O-ring?

Regular use of the ProPulse® can cause wear on the O-ring and mushroom valve, which may lead to a slow leak from the reservoir. After confirming you have the correct O-ring, try replacing it along with the mushroom valve, especially if they haven’t been replaced in the last three months. Replacing both components is simple and requires no tools. Unsure if you're using the right O-ring or mushroom valve?
Refer to this user guide for further details.

STIFF CONTROLS

Even new units may have a slightly stiff water flow knob. To fix this quickly, fill the tank with water and attach a QrX™ tip to the handle. Aim the tip back into the reservoir, then run the machine for 1-2 minutes while slowly turning the knob back and forth until it moves smoothly.

INTERMITTENT OR NO WATER FLOW

Air can sometimes enter the system, causing improper water flow. To fix this, fill the tank with water and run the unit while pressing down on the reservoir to ensure a good seal on the O-ring. Keep the unit running for about 1 minute until the water flow normalizes.

If the issue persists, check the plug hole on the upper casing, the handle, and the QrX™ tip for any blockages.

If you've followed these steps and are still experiencing water flow issues, the pump may be malfunctioning. In this case, the unit will need servicing.

To return your unit, please complete a product return form, and we will contact you with the next steps.

INTERMITTENT POWER OR NOT SWITCHING ON

Power issues with your unit may be caused by either the power supply or the footswitch.

If you're experiencing problems with powering your unit, you may need to return it to us for diagnosis and repair. To start the process, fill out a product return form, and be sure to include your power supply cable and footswitch with the unit.

Please note that internal damage due to misuse or water exposure may not be covered under warranty.

For more details, refer to the ProPulse® ear irrigator warranty guide.

TIPS TO AVOID ISSUES IN THE FUTURE

Here are some tips to help extend the lifespan of your ProPulse® and minimize the chances of encountering issues in the future.

PERIODICALLY REPLACE THE MUSHROOM VALVE AND O-ring.

Regular use of the ProPulse® leads to wear on the reservoir O-ring and mushroom valve, which is completely normal. To prevent common issues, keep spare O-rings and valves on hand and replace them periodically. I recommend changing them every 3-4 months, though this may vary depending on your usage. You can purchase a pack of O-ring and mushroom valve replacements here; one pack will last for over a year.

FOLLOW THE CORRECT PROCEDURE FOR CLEANING YOUR PROPULSE®

If you're already in the habit of cleaning your ProPulse®, great job! Maintaining the cleanliness of your ProPulse® is essential. Just as important is following the proper cleaning procedures. Since this unit contains electrical components, it's crucial to prevent water from coming into contact with these areas. Please refer to the following resources for the correct cleaning instructions:
